The photoelectricchefs
This post first appeared on my old Blogspot blog.
Before you read any further, I request you all to have a look at this link, and register everything that comes into your mind when first looking at it.
Now that I hope you have seen and registered your thoughts, I shall try my best to give a small write-up about what you have seen.
Basically this website is initiated and run by my friend Aravind and me. The idea behind this was to have a common space for us, firstly to have our own identity. Secondly it is one of the ways we intend to give back to the society what we have gained from it.
The site mostly contains things we do, things that we are interested in. We have made this site to give us our identity, to be a common location for all our works and ideas. A place where we share knowledge gained by us in our endeavors, and also get some feedback to improve ourselves for the better.
The name ‘photoelectricchefs’ could mean a lot of things. Photo is nothing but light, electric deals with electrons (here for simplicity we take electronics), and chefs are people who cook. Now putting this all together, we can say it means shedding light on electronics and also making stuff… OR… making wonders with photons and electrons… OR… a simple short for ‘photography-electronics-cooking’. I leave it up to you to decide which suits better.
The concept of the site is quite straightforward (as of now at least; as artists we would like to give each element a meaning in future modifications). As of now the only place where some meaning has been added is the header picture, the one where you see a person looking out into the vast openness. Though it has been said that a picture is worth a thousand words, I will try to just bring out the essence as I see it. Not going into the details of the image, just the points:
- vision far into the openness
- a dream
- to look at that which is in light, and also that in darkness
- to go beyond obstacles
- a glimpse through the lens ;)
Currently we have only a technical section and a photography page. That’s because of our slightly tight schedules; we are unable to devote time to add content regularly. Though a lot has been planned, it may take a while to get more content up. For this we would definitely want feedback from you, to keep us inspired and going. In the future we wish to add forums for electronics to help students and hobbyists, a section for articles contributed by everyone, and more literary pages, maybe book reviews, cooking and various other pages. This blog would also be shifted on the site soon!
Through this site we also hope to promote Open Hardware in Bangalore/Karnataka, depending on its feasibility. Most of the articles and projects we publish will be given with source.
Now that’s what was in our mind while designing the site. How about you share the thoughts you had registered when you first saw the site? We would love to know.
P.S.: This blog will be updated as and when major changes are made to the site.
